Community Service Policy

Community Service Policy for students (high school, college or for civic or religious projects)

We welcome individuals who need to complete community service hours for school or civic projects.  Community service volunteers are asked to complete tasks such as dish washing, laundry, and cleaning throughout the shelter. All students are required to discuss their project with the Volunteer/Event Coordinator prior to attending to Volunteer Orientation.

• Your need to schedule a meeting to discuss the scope of your project

• You need to determine what you will need from the SPCA in advance, and give sufficient time for us to provide

• You are willing to attend the two hour orientation

• You are willing to wear a lanyard/volunteer badge that identifies yourself as a volunteer of the shelter at all times

 

Court Ordered Community Service Policy

We welcome individuals who need to complete court mandated community service to do so by volunteering at the SPCA of Luzerne County. Community service volunteers are asked to complete tasks such as dish washing, laundry, and cleaning throughout the shelter. Please make sure you fit the following profile before you apply (please note these requirements do not apply for students seeking to complete community service hours for school):

• Your charge is for Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
• You can provide court ordered documentation at the time you submit your volunteer application
• You are willing to attend the two hour orientation
• You are willing to wear a lanyard/volunteer badge that identifies yourself as a volunteer of the shelter at all times
